northern virginia during his side job as a wrestling referee. a case of dumb luck, pretty much. >> that's right. in fact, some would say it was just sheer chance that he has now been charged with counties of child pornography. this has been troubling for parents because for eight years barget was working with jackson major high and high school students. his the house next door burned down and while firefighters performed a check of his home, they found pornography. he judged wrestling matches and performed skin checks on students throughout northern virginia. the wrestler's association, which is contracted by the school district, said it never received any complaints about barget. he has now been suspended indefinitely. fairfax says they have sent a letter to him, a no trespassing letter which means he cannot go on school grounds, but this is of course is very troubling for parents throughout virginia. >> in other news, d.c. police are looking for clues in the death of an elderly man. his body was found late last night on railroad tracks near second and d street. this is a death investiga

countynd king george in the northern neck of virginia as well as in southern maryland and coming out of the northern neck of virginia. now some of the rainfa totals around the region have already been over three inches. we could have up to as many as 7 inches by the time this all ends. we've seen that in southern maryland, all these cnties in red have had flooding this morning and we have that flood warning continuing into this afrnoon, all those counties in red. look at the rainfall totals we've had three to four inches in our western to northern suburbs, over 2 1/2 inches in washington. look at southernmaryland. 7 1/2 inches. annapolis has had 6.7 inches of rain and this total amount is only going to increase. we have a tornado watch in effect. veronica johnson joins me from storm center 4 with the latest on that. >> indeed, a lot of circulation in the atmosphere and with that circulation the possibility of not only severe thunderstorm warnings in effect right now but those tornado warnings like we saw earlier today. not just here but if you have plans of traveling southbound around r

in northern virginia. >> arlington, fairfax, loudoun county and others back in session this morning. this year, classrooms are hoping the effects of big budget cuts -- are coping with. >> doing more with less in northern virginia because a moment is higher and funding is down across the board compared with the last couple years. in fairfax county, 175 dozen students will flood the school system today. if that is 3200 more students than last year. a reason for the enrollment increase is an influx of young hispanic families with a higher birthrate. arlington county and alexandria counties have seen a rise in enrollment from 3% up to %. in fairfax county the funding for schools dropped by $34 million compared with last year. spending per student will be cut by $300 to $10,000. parents are having to dish out morakot for advanced placement courses and athletics. teachers have not had a pay raise in fairfax county the past couple years. the superintendent's post to change that in the next budget. his first stop will be at this high-school at 7:00 this morning. pamela brown reporting. >>>

heavy rain made this morning's commute even tougher, especially in northern virginia where a few vehies got stuck in high water. our team coverage of this wet day continues now with news 4's tracee wilkins in annandale, virginia. >> reporter: here in northern virginia, a big mess with plenty of roads closed throughout the area. here on this road, another example of why you should not try your hand at high water. it was a wet, long, miserable morning commute that started for a lot of drivers on the inner loop of the beltway, after a tractor trailer jackknifed at the 270 split. fuel poured from the truck causing major backups throughout the morning commute. anwhile, in annandale on woodburn road, a v-dot worker says a husband and wife drove through the roadblock and tried to g through this standing water but didn't make it. they both had to be rescued. the water stood about two feet on thear side and a foot and a half on the side the driver tried to go through. >> i work right on woodburn road. i haven't been down there, but i'm wondering what it's like. >> reporter: v-dot crews su

to learn more about why a northern virginia man may have staged a violent incident at johns hopkin hospital in baltimore. it turns out the gunman was likely distraught over his mother's condition gentleman the incident began at the hospital around 11:00 yesterday morning. the gunman and his mother are said to be from arlington. police say paul warren pardus pulled a gun and shot his mother's doctor while the surgeon updated him on his mother's condition. pardus barricaded himself in his mother's eighth floor hospital room killing his mother and then himself. for more than two hours, no one knew what was happening inside. >> my boss came running in and he told me exactly what happened, that there was a guy running around with a gun and to stay put. it was scary just knowing that machine -- someone is on the outside on a rampage with a gun in a hospital where we're supposed to be protected. >> reporter: police had originally identified par stay with us -- pardus as warren davis but he says he changed his name. >>> four metro access drivers accused of sexual assaults against disabled

northern virginia systems start their 2010/2011 school year today. they are alexandria, arlington, fairfax, falls church, fredericksburg, king george, loudoun, manassas city, manassas park, orange, prince william and warren counties. now the biggest of these in our area is fairfax county with its 170,000 students, and that means many families are trying out their school routines for the first time this morning. kristin fisher is live at james madison high school in vienna, virginia with more. >> reporter: good morning, andrea. you know when fairfax county heads back to school you know that summer is indeed over. sad but true. as of today, all school systems in the dc area will be back in session. and you know there are certainly some perks to being the last school system in the area to go back to school, but for some procrastinating parents there are also some serious disadvantages and here's what i'm talking about. yesterday, stores like target, wal-mart, staples, they were slaughtly packed with fairfax county parents and their kids buying last-minute school supplies. roughly 175

northern virginia. >> here's a look at what the storm system has already done else where. the remains of tropical storm nicole dumped heavy rain in southeast north carolina. the rain is putting a strain on area rivers and streams already overflowing. some roads are impassable becse of deep water. >>> i-270 is open again after that terrible and deadly crash involving a tour bus. all northbound lanes were closed for hours, after the bus, carrying children and their parents, plunged off an hov flyover ramp and rolled down a hill coming to rest just inches from the very busy interstate. the 66-year-old bus driver was killed and at least dozen people were injured. they are all pected to be okay, though. doctors who treated the victims say this accident could have been much worse. >> actually the thing that stands out about this accident is the fall seems pretty significant. the mechanism, the physics behind it. i'm surprise that there weren't more severe injuries. >> investigators are still working to determine what did cause the bus driver toose control of that vehicle. >>> coming
